Jagannath Rath Yatra is a big Hindu festival held every year in Puri, Odisha. It celebrates the journey of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra from the main temple to Gundicha Temple. This event is also known as the Chariot Festival. It happens around June or July and lasts about 9 days. In 2025, it started on June 27 and ends with Bahuda Yatra on July 5.
The Rath Yatra has been celebrated since at least the 12th century, when the Jagannath Temple was built by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva. ISKCON started global celebrations in 1968.
